What is FreeSat?

FreeSat is a free, non-subscription satellite service providing freeview channel access. It is provided using satellite connectivity, which for you means uninterupted, crystal clear quality television that doesn't suffer from bad signal quality and allows High Definition content to be recieved.

High Definition channels are available, as well as added benefits of enhanced interactive services, super quick digital text browsing and full program guides. Popular and entertaining channels such as ITV 2, ITV 3 and BBC 3, BBC 4 and FilmFour are all available on FreeSat.

How do I go about getting FreeSat?

FreeSat is a free service, with no subscriptions.

The only equipment you need is a FreeSat compatible set-top box and a satellite dish installed.

There are several set-top boxes to choose from. The standard box allows access to FreeSat channels, digital text and digital radio - everything you need to get going. However, if you wish to view or watch High Definition, you will be need a slightly more featureful set-top box.

Finally, in a similar fashion to Sky+, there are FreeSat set-top boxes that will allow you to record your favourite TV programs directly to the box, and this is easily achieved by setting reminders using program guides.
